Global Design Project #GDP093
It was so easy to play along with this week’s challenge from the Global Design Project team – they gave us such a happy colour combination!!
I decided to use two techniques (Water Stamping and Emboss Resist – details below) as I thought they’d really complement the beautiful Stampin’ Up! colours and coordintating cardstock. I love the card ‘as is’ and the dragonflies look beautiful in the sunlight, but you could also add some subtle embellishment and/or a stamped sentiment if you wanted to:
What not to do!! Do NOT use Shimmery White cardstock for Water Stamping (DO use it for water colouring though!). Oops:
If you have any questions about the process or products please ask, and I hope this card give you a little inspiration. Thanks so much for dropping by! Megan xo
TECHNIQUES
- Water Stamping: I sponged the 3 colours onto a piece of Whisper White Thick cardstock (I think the lighter weight Whisper White cardstock could work too), spritzed water onto the flower stamp from Butterfly Basics and pressed onto the sponged cardstock. I then stamped the ferns from the same stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
- Emboss Resist: I sponged the 3 colours onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamped the ornate dragonfly image from Dragonfly Dreams twice in Versamark ink, added clear embossing powder and heat. I wiped the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink pad over the embossed image, used a tissue to wipe excess ink off the image, and cut the dragonflies out with the matching Detailed Dragonfly framelit.
I love these colours together!! So pretty. Thank you for sharing the details about the techniques. It is great to learn new things!
You’re welcome Kristy! Also learn what not to do! 😉
