A few months later …
Hello friends! A busy Christmas/new year period, different family happenings, church commitments, plus a lack of motivation and energy has meant no time spent in my craft room 🙁 The solution? I offered to make birthday cards for our younger Kids Church class which helped motivate me, and the advertising for a church event provided the missing inspiration ~ meerkats!!
I’m so glad I kept this 2020 stamp set – it was perfect for what I wanted 🙂
This is the birthday card design I settled on:

I added a layer of embossed birthday words to the white card bases:
And used a LOT of double-sided tape to make sure they stayed attached to the card fronts!
This stamp positioning tool was really useful for making multiple cards 🙂
No coordinating dies for the stamps meant lots of fussy cutting, but once that was done, I decided not to colour them ~ too much extra effort!
I’ve discovered that a group of meerkats is a ‘clan’, ‘mob’ or ‘gang’; perfect for representing the other kids in their group at church 🙂
Most children are excited about their birthday number so I made them extra special by die-cutting the numbers from thick sparkly paper:
If you look closely, you’ll see that the position of this meerkat to the number ‘6’…
… differs to its position to the number ‘7’ …
… and differs again to its position to the number ‘8’:
MEANWHILE … I discovered that using a thumb trigger ice cream scoop is an excellent way to top the meat/veg layer of Shepherd’s Pie with mashed potatoes (and yes, I added some grated cheese, too!):
Thanks so much for spending some time with me and I hope to see you again soon 🙂 Megan xo
