The Joy of Sets #jos001
Llama anyone?! I’m a bit of a hoarder when it comes to my stamp sets so I was super happy to find the very first challenge designed by the The Joy of Sets team allowed the use of retired stamps! The stamp set needed to be a Stampin’ Up! one where the name of the set included a word beginning with “F”. I chose Birthday Fiesta and used the Starburst Card technique (detail below) which is a great way to use up scraps of paper:
I love colour and this card is colourful! Melon Mambo and Emerald Envy feature, it has lots of lovely layering to give dimension, including an embossed panel, and there is an encouragement to ‘fiesta like there’s no manana’! I couldn’t resist adding a cute stamped cactus and die cut llama to the inside panel:
I’m supporting A Wish for Emily (she urgently needs a multi-organ transplant) and this card will be added to EiderCraft’s Etsy shop!
- This technique is simple! It is based on 4 pieces of paper, 1 ½” by 4”, cut in half diagonally to create 8 pieces (I know, I’m an Aussie but I prefer to work in inches!)
- For the details on “how to”, check out the really helpful video and samples by Dawn Olchefske (scroll down her page for video).
So pleased you have found us at JOS and that you like being able to use retired stamps.
A bright and colourful card and like how you have out it all together.

Thanks Christine! 🙂
I love this set too, so bright and cheerful. What a great way to use up those scraps of DSP, I hate trowing away even the smallest pieces.
Thanks Beverley 🙂
What a gorgeous fun card Megan – those papers work so well with this technique. Thanks for joining in with our first ever Challenge over at Joy of Sets

I loved that you showed what you did to the inside. I’m always at a loss on how to finish the card!
