Southern Skies Cardmakers August Card Swap: Father’s Day
These card swaps sure come round fast!! The second one with the Southern Skies Cardmakers was for Father’s Day which we’ve just celebrated in Australia. The Open Sea stamp (Stampin’ Up! but now retired) is so versatile for masculine cards! I was swapping with someone who lives near the sea and wanted to give the card a nautical feel so I designed it with an anchor as the focal point:
And what would a card be without just a little embossing?!! Lovely texture was achieved using this nautical embossing folder from CraftOnline – a perfect match for the Father’s Day card:
I often keep stamped sentiments and greetings for the inside of cards, like with this one. Why, you might ask? The card front design remains more versatile and you can use it to celebrate other occasions by changing up the inside sentiment:
My ‘swappee’ (is there such a word?) chose a nautical theme too! I love how our colour schemes were similar, and how Lyn used layering and the die cut boat:
Father’s Day was low key at our house as Paul’s been unwell for weeks – he’s so sick of coughing! We cancelled the family celebration and are saving it for another time. A baked dinner and this cute card cheered him up; he secretly loves these bears too! Our daughter likes that she features front and centre:
I try to work smarter not harder when creating cards and nearly always have time to make a few of each design. I’ve added some nautical cards to the EiderCraft Etsy shop and proceeds from their sale will go to A wish for Emily! Thanks for visiting today! Megan xo
