Countdown to Christmas 2019: 2 weeks!
Hello friends! Only 2 weeks to go … how’d that happen??!! I’m doing some last minute decorating of a flat Christmas tree. Yes, that’s right, it’s flat and hangs on the wall in an attempt to deter the cats from destroying it!!
And to make it even safer, I’m making paper ornaments like this one so that if they do fall off they won’t break!
And here’s a close up:
I love how they’re turning out 🙂 For each ornament you need one piece of 6″ x 6″ (15.2 x 15.2 cm) double sided paper and this piece comes from the Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper:
You cut it into 12 x 1/2″ (1.27 cm) strips:
I followed this video to get all the steps:
I completed Step 1 using a stamp positioning tool and the grid paper helped me line up the first two strips, with one held in place by magnets:
Small dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue hold the strips in place and once this next step is complete, the ornament comes together quite quickly:
To create the central piece I used 3 circle punches; 2″ for the gold layer, 1-3/4″ for the red and 1-1/2″ to punch out the stamped star (the star is from the retired Star of Light set):
I also made the star to go on top of the tree as it needed to be flat and light! The star is die-cut from Gold Glimmer Paper and the circle is die-cut from a Silver Foil Sheet; both die sets are retired:
MEANWHILE we’ve been decorating outside as well!
Thanks so much for visiting me today; I really appreciate you spending time here 🙂 If you have any questions please ask and I hope this has given you a little inspiration! Megan xo
