Countdown to Christmas 2021: 5 weeks!

Hello friends! This week I’ve been busy with a Uni assignment, some card orders (a good thing!) and thinking about more Christmas card designs. I made this today then realised that two of the candle flames look like they’re touching the pine leaves! Do you think it matters?? I started by experimenting with a much darker green and fussy cutting the candles:   I quickly abandoned the colour and the scissors and chose Soft Succulent green, which is much lighter, and stamped the 3 candles in the lower right hand corner of the card front:  If you look closely you’ll see I had some challenges covering the candles stamp with the ink – oops!  This stamping platform lets me use 2 different kinds of stamps without removing either from the stamping plate which was perfect for this card 🙂 The candles are a ‘clear’ stamp and the words are a ‘rubber’ stamp. I’ve circled the clear candles stamp which is still in place on one side so I can use it again:  I stamped the sentiment twice in Real Red ink:  I made a mistake on the top one – the paper shifted!  The embossing was done using the Pine Bough Embossing Folder (retired) and the flames were stamped in Delicata Golden Glitz I tried the card base using Soft Succulent cardstock: and Basic White cardstock: MEANWHILE … the first Christmas card has arrived! Thanks so much for visiting me today; it’s always lovely to have you here 🙂 If you have any questions please ask and I hope this has given you a little inspiration!  Megan xo

  1. Hi Megan, I was at a company Christmas dinner where the table floral decorations had a candle surrounded by flowers and pine greenery. As the night wore on the candles burn down until two of the floral decorations caught on fire with the pine needles igniting. A quick thinking guest poured water over the flames and staff extinguished the remaining candles. It was fortunate spirits were on the bar tab. Rae

    1. Oh dear! That description made me laugh, but I guess it wasn’t funny at the time – and it could have been so much worse. ? At least my candles can’t do any damage! ?
